Decorating with Outdoor Planters

The outdoor planter has been used for gardening and decorating well over 300 years.  Outdoor pots, decorative planters, and outdoor urns provide a lovely and practical method of cultivating and enjoying your foliage and flowers.  We have researched different ways that decorative planters are being used:  some traditional, and some unique.  Come up with your own unique ways of decorating with our outdoor planters and create a special and elegant look in your home or patio.

CONTAINER GARDENING:

Container Gardening has grown in popularity as more urban residents desire the beauty and convenience of enjoying their own plants or vegetables.  Container gardens provide many benefits and uses.  The ability to move your plants in and out of sunlight, bad weather, or snow is important.  Plants and soil are heavy, especially when watered, and a lightweight outdoor planter is a bonus if you have to keep those plants mobile.  

Container Gardens serve different needs.  If you enjoy growing your own vegetables, there are various styles and sizes of vegetable planters from which to choose.  Be sure to understand the needs of your plants before selecting the soil and vegetable planter type.  Growing vegetables in a garden planter is expecially fun for kids that participate in 4H or other youth development programs.  It can be a good science project for older elementary kids.  Or maybe you would enjoy using your vegetable planters as a family project to grow some of your own food.  With the many styles, colors, and shapes from which to choose, you are sure to find a vegetable planter that is right for you.

Outdoor Planters work very well for gardening flowers.  A flower planter can add beautiful splashes of color to your outdoor decorating.  You can choose flowers to match your design theme, or to add accent color in a small or large space.  Container gardening makes it easier to plant and cultivate flower gardens because you have more control over the soil, drainage, and location than planting directly in the ground.   If you entertain, you can easily move your flower planters to the location of your party to add dimension to your decorating.  

Outdoor pots are perfect for growing your own herbs.  You don't have to worry about running out of basil, or having enough oregano.  A small garden planter is perfect for keeping fresh herbs available for your favorite recipes.    

INTERIOR DECORATING:

Outdoor planters don't have to stay outside!  They are both beautiful and useful indoors.  More people are enjoying outdoor planters for use as indoor planters.   The strongest decorating trend today is the outdoor room.  People desire to spend more leisure time with nature.  This is not a one-way movement though.  It also means bringing outdoor elements into the home.  

An outdoor pot or patio planter looks right at home in your bathroom holding rolled up guest towels.  A decorative planter or outdoor urn can function as a waste basket.   

A row of small decorative planters looks clever in a line holding items you need to keep handy.  Try three on a shelf in the laundry room to store change, pins, or stray socks.  Use a small outdoor urn to hold pens, scissors, or other desk items.  A large outdoor pot works well holding rolls of wrapping paper.  The possibilities are limited only by your imagination.
